If you are a beginner or intermediate skier, go right for the game improvement skis that will truly facilitate your skid turns and will help you make that next step to carving turns.
You can do a carving turn, and like wide curves and/or speed ? Pick a giant slalom ski.
You have a good skiing ability and an aggressive style, love tight turns, wedelns at a sustained rhythm, and steep, icy couloirs? Buy slalom skis.
You like on-piste, off-piste skiing and powder? Go for a pair of versatile freeride skis.

Selecting your skis size:

The choice of your skis size depends on several parameters: characteristics of skis: a slalom ski will have edges to make short turns. Giant's ski, with a longer sidecut radius, is better for more stability. A all mountain ski needs a bigger contact area, a little longer ski. It works in conjunction with the skier ability.
Weight and height of the skier are also important parameters : If you are taller, then your skis should be longer and if your are lighter your skis should be shorter.

Competition skis : between -10 and +10 of the skier height
All mountain skis : between 0 and +15 of the skier height
Freeride skis : between -10 and +10 of the skier height

Check the binding:

A boot is a shell and a foot bed ; we may know the outer shell size (Mondo size) to attached the binding at the middle of the skis. This size is normally indicated on the hell side.
